It’s a Journey Launches: A New Podcast Exploring the Future of Sustainable Travel

It’s a Journey: A Sustainable Travel Podcast is a groundbreaking new podcast series hosted by sustainable travel expert and writer Holly Tuppen and  Richard Hammond, Publishing Director of Green Traveller Media. Sponsored by Lemongrass – the B Corp PR and content agency for travel brands – the series dives into the future of sustainable travel through candid conversations with leading voices across the industry.

Born out of a frustration with a lack of platforms to share B2B solutions-focused and actionable storytelling around sustainability topics, each episode of It’s a Journey tackles the uncomfortable, complex, and often overlooked questions facing the travel industry as it strives to have a better impact on people and places.

Holly Tuppen said:  “We’re so excited to launch this new podcast series tackling hard-hitting topics with the best possible guests. Tourism needs to embrace change to continue to thrive in an evolving world, and we hope this podcast provides some replicable solutions to do just that.

“As the name suggests, these five episodes are just the beginning, and we invite the industry to get in touch to discuss any specific topics or issues they would like us to discuss.”

Featuring guests from across tourism, conservation, marketing, and academia, It’s a Journey invites honest, sometimes challenging conversations between the hosts and leading voices in sustainable travel. Each episode delivers frank, thought-provoking dialogue, powerful soundbites, and real-world examples that bring the issues to life. Listeners can expect practical takeaways and curated reading lists designed to extend the conversation well beyond the episode.

Richard Hammond added:  “We’ve launched this podcast to provide focus and insight on the pressing issues facing the industry. It’s a Journey is a great way for listeners – in their own time – to hear engaging, inspiring stories from our expert guests and learn from examples of best practice both within travel and tourism and from other industries.”

Abi Best, Managing Director at Lemongrass, said: “We believe communications should be a catalyst for meaningful change. When Richard and Holly approached us with the concept for It’s a Journey, we were aligned with their vision to offer the travel industry a constructive, thought provoking and intelligent platform for dialogue. Together, we developed a series of topics we believe the travel industry is grappling with, subjects that are often avoided due to their complexity but need to be addressed. Whether you are a destination, travel brand, hotel or tour operator, this podcast is for those who care deeply about creating lasting impact. It goes beyond the buzzwords to deliver practical insights, fresh perspectives and hopeful paths forward.

“We are proud to support It’s a Journey as part of our ongoing work in sustainable tourism storytelling, giving space to the voices and issues that deserve to be heard.”

Key topics explored across the five episodes of It’s a Journey include:

  • Should you shout about your sustainability actions?

  • Does the right thing by people and nature make commercial sense?

  • Can train travel be a practical, affordable, low-emissions alternative to air travel?

  • Are public-private partnerships the best way to accelerate change in the tourism industry?

  • What does good look like, and can we measure its benefits?

It’s a Journey brings together an exceptional lineup of voices shaping the future of sustainable travel.
